In recent years, great importance has been given to the cognitive rehabilitation of neuropsychological disorders. This is possible more than ever, because the individual specialties of the health professions involved in neuropsychological rehabilitation (neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists) have evolved by leaps and bounds, thereby maximizing therapeutic potential compared to the recent past. The usual "disputes" between the aforementioned health professionals about who has the primary place in the rehabilitation of cognitive disorders, which, among other things, arose from the use of different terminology, are beginning to exist, because the role of each individual specialty has been demonstrated. important for achieving recovery.
This handbook by Johnstone and Stonnington comes - significantly helpful - to provide rehabilitation professionals (but also non-specialists in the patient's environment, for example) with treatment strategies for cognitive disorders. The Greek translation of the textbook, not a particularly easy process since several terms had to be rendered with great scientific and clarity, is very successful, which was achieved by Messrs. Andreas Kastellakis, Assistant Professor of Psychophysiology, University of Crete and Dr. Logos University Hospital of Patras and collaborator of the Neurological Clinic of the University of Patras.
This torment will contribute significantly to the restoration of cognitive disorders in Greece, which is beginning to enjoy the "goods" of special intervention in a nosological entity, to which very little was offered until recently.
Panagiotis G. Papathanassopoulos, Assoc. Professor of Neurology, Director of the Neurology Clinic of the University of Patras
